About

In April 2010, the Durham Shooting Club was created to capture images of the undergoing urban revitalization of Durham, North Carolina. The name of the club, selected by David Zuber, was intended to mock the unjustified fear that had prevailed in the previous years about visiting or moving to Durham. Law enforcement efforts, historic preservation of the Bull City, and urban revitalization were now transforming the city into a safe place known for it’s architectural character and it’s mayor’s long-term vision for the city. In early November 2011, Durham residents agreed to a half-cent sales tax for improvements in of its transit system and future rail service.

Documenting efforts to build stronger communities through the preservation of historical and infrastructural assets is a tradition that now continues in Atlanta, Georgia, with the Atlanta Shooting Club (and StreetsOfAtlanta.com).
